These are great amps for steel. I used it as my main, go to amp. I have been carrying it in my gig bag as a back-up amp. It only weighs 5.8 LB and measures 14" x 9" x 2 .8". It is very powerful, delivering 300 watts into 8 ohms and 500 watts into 4 or 2 ohms. The pre-amp
has a 12AX7 tube that can be switched in or out. In this respect, it is like a Sarno Black Box.
It is In excellent condition and has never needed to be sent in for repairs. I am the original owner. It has an unbelievable amount of features, way too many to mention. Google Carvin BX-500 to read about all the features. Ron Hogan has some sound clips here on the forum he recorded using this amp.
This makes a great main amp, practice amp, or emergency back-up amp. If you have a speaker cord with alligator clips on one end, and your combo amp blows, you can be back picking in less than 5 minutes.
I have a rack now with a Stereo Steel and an Evans in it, so I don't need this any more.
